A miracle, and my bro

Today i just made a miracle happen. I picked up a broom, a rag and started cleaning....

I was only planning to clean our room, but when i started i couldn't stop. That's why i ended up cleaning our entire apartment....My bros and sis were saying that finally a miracle has happened. Emem is actually cleaning! hahaha i was quite amazed myself!.... usually on our general cleaning i always have an excuse to escape.....

When my bro got home, he was super surprised!... he even looked through our window before entering just to make sure what he was seeing was real. I was sweating like a pig, wiping the floor and cleaning the fans. He told me that it was great to see me in a good mood (these past few days he kept saying that i was acting like something was stuck up my ass). I just smiled and said "i don't do this often so you guys better be good!"... then we laughed.... My sis and i didn't have to cook coz bro bought roasted chicken for dinner. I pushed my luck and asked with puppy eyes "kuya, can i have siomai tonight? pleeeeeaaase! Just look at it as a reward for my miracle".. He said no and just laughed. I laughed with him too coz i know he can't resist me. After i took my bath, the siomai was already served at the table. Thanks kuya!! ... hehehehe...

After dinner, sis and i decided to play with some nail polish (we don't do this often too..). Bro was going out to buy some snacks so again i used my puppy eyes and asked him for some chuckie-a yummy chocolate drink. He said no again and even laughed at me..... I laughed again too....When he came back, he bought some chips and my chuckie!.. heheheh i just love it that he can't resist my requests sometimes hehehehe.... ahhhhh.. the power of the younger sibling!.....

My day so busy and tiring! It's a good thing i have a bro who's so...gullible...oh i mean great!!... teehee!!...

Food TRip!!

EM! EM! EM! Wake up you're late for class!!!

That's what woke me up this morning. My heart was beating so fast, my eyes were super red, my hair was a mess and my face was oily . In other words, I looked like the exorcist. I hate it when my brothers forget that i don't have classes!!...sheesh.. i mean thanks for waking me up bro but, I don't have classes anymore remember?!...My uni's classes didn't resume after the postponement of the ASEAN Summit. Theirs did so they thought mine did too. ...hahaha boy, were they jealous when they heard I didn't have class anymore!!.. hahahaha

I couldn't go back to sleep anymore so i decided to start my day early. I was surfing the net when i received one of my transpo buddies' message,
it said we could claim our asean shirts at IBANK (the place where one of our heads work.). Me and a couple of friends decided to go there so we could claim our shirts before we left for our break. We were kinda annoyed when we found out it WASN'T available yet. I could've stayed home and enjoyed the company of my computer....Dang it...We just wasted our precious time.. hahay....

Well anyway..Me and my buddies decided to go home...One of my friends decided to hang out at my place for a while so we went to FOODA, a small but student friendly grcery store... We were gonna buy some chips but the spaghetti caught our eyes... We just received our salary for our volunteer work so we said.. what the heck! we might as well celebrate!.. hehehe.. We got some spag noodles and three kinds of spag sauce. Then just before we were going to pay for them, we went back to get some chips and juice...We passed by a bakery on our way to my place so we got some sliced bread too. Hehehehe.. we were gonna have a feast!...Then it hit us.A food trip is no fun if your friends aren't there. So when we arrived, we contacted some friends who weren't busy....

Two of my friends arrived bringing more food!.. hehehe...(i know, i know we're gonna get fat and all that...but we don't mind... yet.. hehehe) I prepared the spag they prepared the other stuff ... After that we ate like queens and a king.. hehehehe.. It feels so good to buy your own food with your own money.. It makes you feel... i dunno... rich?.. hahahaha....

We ate, surfed the net, listened to some songs.. then ate again and talked some more... after that we watched You Me and Dupree and Happy Feet....We were celebrating "classes will not resume for UP" day hahahaha....We had so much fun....

When they left, I started to feel bad......Especially after i saw the mountain of plates, glasses and utensils i had to wash!......

Last day on duty...

This is quite a long post so i suggest that you guys find a relaxing chair and one of my fave snacks.. chips!

Last Friday evening, we were told that the ASEAN Summit was postponed because of the typhoon that was gonna hit our country. We were both happy and scared. Happy because that would mean our shifts will end earlier than expected. Scared because, postponing the Summit would mean classes might resume. haaaayyy...

On Saturday morning we were told to go to our usual rounds.... We waited for a while for the buses though because, the drivers were told that their services would no longer be needed. it took a while before they were told that yesterday would be our last day. Our last round was really sad. In every hotel that we went to, the media people were either going back home, had their own service, or just didn't want to go to CICC. (sigh..)..This postponement stuff is REAAAALLLYYY gonna take a lot from our country. People are starting to criticize the governments decision and everything... A lot of people kept asking me what would happen now....It was really quite annoying... i mean, how should i know?.. I'm just a liaison officer...I don't know the specifics...0_o....Also the rain and wind was SOOOOO awfully cold!!!...

Well back to my day, when were done with two rounds tatay (we call our head "tatay" dad, pops, father or pappy in English because he's is super kind and really is a father to us..) asked if were there any people who needed our services. When we told him there was none, he told us to stay put and rest.. We stayed at CICC talking and chatting until lunch time. We started to look for our lunch packs but there were none!.. The lunch services were no longer available. We were about to complain when we were told that the government prepared a buffet for all of us! woohooo! talk about good food!.. While we were eating.. We remembered the drivers.. What were they eating?!.. when we asked tatay, he said that they were not included in the food count that day..We were all sad when we heard this, tatay was even a bit mad. Who wouldn't be, those guys (the drivers) offered their services with no shifting from 7 am to ten pm, and they aren't even offered good food?..If it was up to tatay and us, they would have eaten with us!.. but like i said, what can we do? Were just liaison officers...even tatay has no say in it.. The only thing that we could was offer our snacks to them.. It's a good thing they understood..sorry kuya!!

After lunch, I went on 1 more round because somebody was waiting at Midtown hotel. My buddies were with me so it wasn't so lonely.. hehehehe...When we came back we attended a meeting for all liaison officers. We talked about our allowances, stuff , AND the inefficiency of some volunteers. We were also told that there will be a lot of us who will be pulled out because of that. yada yada yada... nothing excited happened after that...

Later we finally got our certificates and allowances!!! yehey!! hehehe...but there's still one thing that made our committee sooo happy. Tatay and our two other heads, decided to make our last day a sad one for them. Asking why?...They decided to treat us to a night out!!!.. yipeee!!.. they donated 500 each (that's why it was sad for them..) We secretly decided too, to donate 100 each so we could have a blast...so after we attended a cocktail and the dinner buffet (Their last treat for us before we all said goodbye..), We went to a comedy bar!! hahaha...Two of my buddies weren't able to tag along coz of their parents and BF...

I texted my bro that i would be home late and decided to enjoy the night.... The show was hilarious!!!... when we entered the bar, we already caught the eyes of the performers.. they read our certificates out loud and joked bout our uniforms and the summit! hahahaha.. One of my buddies got dragged onstage because of us and wheeew!.. twas a good thing he wasn't mad!! hahahaha.....we drank (for me just a Cali) and ate (peanuts and sisig)... After our hectic schedules it was great to laugh our hearts out!... If you were there I'm sure you would have laughed with us!.. hehehe

I didn't finish the show though.. it was already 1 am and my mom was looking for me... She's an island away but still wouldn't go to sleep till i got home.. hahay mama oi. hehehe..thanks for worrying.. love yah!... My bro was also soooo mad coz he didn't receive my messages.. his phone was off the whole day coz i brought the charger with me!... oh man!...I decided to keep quiet till he cooled down... it was a really good idea... hehehehe... anyway.. i was sooo happy that night.. it was actually my first time to be invited to a place like that.. I was treated like one of them.. it feels so great to be part of the group and not get treated as a child!!...hehehehe....

It seems God doesn't only send the friends you want, but also the friends you need. they were all my ate's and kuya's but they treated me like one of them. i also learned a lot of things from them... what they are, i won't say hehehe.. they are not naughty or bad things. it's just that, sometimes when i learn something great i like to keep it to myself and just absorb it. When it finally sinks in, that's when i decide to let it out.

duty called and i answered...PART 2

Well, i'm feeling much better now compared to yesterday. That's why get your chips out guys... coz i'mah postin' away !... hehehehe

My morning today was great!. On my first round i already had passengers (not too many but not too few too..) t'was great coz i finally felt like my job was real, that we weren't playing around. Yah know, riding in a bus going round and round without passengers hehehe... well when they got off i talked to our head (or tatay..). He told me i did well in telling him last night that there were journalists at cicc who needed a ride back to their hotels. he told me that he appreciated my presence of mind... Hehehe... i admit i was happy coz i did my job well, but i'm pretty sure my other buddies would have done thte same thing.. they're a great bunch yah know...

Well okay back to my day, after we talked one of my buddies texted me. She told me that their bus hit the BRAND NEW, NEWLY BUILT AND PAINTED gate of the CICC. She didn't get her ID yet so she couldn't get inside. She had to wait till our heads fixed the problem. We kinda thought it was funny coz yesterday her bus had a problem with it's clutch so they replaced it with a new one. Everything went smoothly... till they hit the gate hehehe... what a stroke of bad luck...

We had few passengers on our other round so we weren't really that busy. When T'was already snack time (at around 10?... yeah .. we were starving..) i got our snacks and headed again for our rounds. The accomodations committee were waiting for me to deliver their snacks...We got there at around 12 so they were starving!.. WE got our lunch at around 1:30 so that means they got their's by 2... After finishing my rounds, i was so excited to eat that i almost tore open my container .... When i opened it i was devastated... 1 piece small chicken and VEGETABLES....yeeech....I decided to buy a jollyhotdog and a sundae on my way home...0_o

When I got home, i ate, relaxed a bit and watched t.v. with my bro... my friend suddenly texted me that the ASEAN Summit was postponed because of the coming typhoon!.. talk about a major problem for our country!.. hahay... suddenly a lot of people started texting and asking me if classes will be resumed. How would i know?... my shift ended hours ago so i was as confused as them. .. but anyway.. i still replied to most of them...

After that, i was told that our duty would still be continued...but then, i was texted that there will no longer be buses tomorrow and that we would have to be at cicc by 8 am for an urgent meeting... Haaaay... just as i thought, the news of the ASEAN summit being postponed really disrupted our schedules... I wonder what will happen tomorrow.. hmmm...

I just finished a text brigade to the people, who were relying on our bus for transportation. Some of their were shocked, some didn't reply....I just hope they'll read my message so they won't waint tomorrow... hehehehe..

I'm getting tired again.. hahaha at least i got to finish my post this time... I have to wake up tomorrow for our meeting....

I hope everything will be alright tomorrow.....

duty called and i answered...

What a day!!...
(Warning! Content ain't that well organized...I just typed what came in my head coz, i'm still too tired to think about what happened to me today and turn it into a story...hehehe...peace!)

Today was our first day on the job as media liaisons. I'm on the traspo committee so i was in the bus most of the morning(1 bus, 1 person yikes!!). We went to the hotels assigned to our route to pick up media people who wanted to go to CICC (Cebu International Convention Center) . We waited, and waited, and waited.... but nobody came. wahuhuhu!...Well cept for the two that our head asked me to pick up. they were nice and friendly so i couldn't say no when they asked for my number. hahay ...being good can be tough sometimes...0_o...I was assigned to the morning shift, so i wasn't really concerned bout their ride home tonight. When i got home, i immediately fell asleep. Clothes and all. I suddenly woke up to the sound of my phone ringing.

Me: hello
Man on the phone: hey Eva is the bus still available........blah blah blah...
Me: oh.. uhh... yes sir... blah blah blah...

Sheesh! ...talk about shocking wake up calls hehehe

Well anyway, we talked, then i texted my buddies, then i called our head, then finally, they got a ride... Thank God! if they didn't get one and they complained, i would've been in deep trouble hahahaha...wheew!..

Tomorrow I'll be on the road again picking up passengers. I'm torn between having passengers and feeling nervous or having none but feeling super bored. Either way, i still have to do my job....

Now i know how it really feels to have a job. You keep thinking how to please your customers while doing your job flawlessly. Man! it's a good thing I'm still a second year. I still have 2 more agonizing years of school to prepare for my future job. hahahaha....

I was so tired but i still had a lot of fun. my friends at the traspo committee are really great guys. I'm really a shy person and i don't usually adjust quickly to situations like this. But with my transpo committee?...i was already laughing and talking to them by day 2 of our meetings hehehe.(right now i'm chatting with a transpo buddy... hehehe...)

This day was full of worries, laughter and bloopers (the driver left us once and we almost got into trouble...again! hahaha) that i just had to write them down. Even if i didn't have the energy to blog about the specifics, i hope you guys enjoyed reading..(i know you're not, but thanks for reading it anyway! hehehe)

After i rest my poor butt, legs and eyes... promise I'll tell you more in the next few days. hehehehe

buhbye!!...

and off to work i go!!...

in my other posts i mentioned that we are media liasons for the ASEAN summit. This afternoon we had our last and final dry run for the routes and everything!..(i'm part of the transportation committee) It's not as exciting as the other committees like the International Media Center or InternationalBroadcasting Center but, it's still very fun!...
My co voluteers had so much fun on our dry run. One member of our group kept telling joke that we were laughing the whole afternoon. We got to use the coaster for our "other" trips, had great snacks, and saw the fireworks show.Woohoo!. Man was that cool!....
Tomorrow we're finally gonna start our duty. Even if we're only handling the media people, i'm still really nervous!....i HOPE they won't ask any questions...
eeee..But i have no choice!.. i have to toughen up to do my job well!...i promised myself i will do great, and i am definitely NOT gonna break it!...
I'll finish my assignments tonight, go to bed, wake up at 5am, then on 6am.... off to work i go!!....

ciao!!

If life was a book......

My brother once asked me,

"if the world was a book, what chapter or page would we be on?"

I thought"......hmmmmm......" I was still tired from our lectures that day but, he really made me think... I thought about it for a while then i told him "If the world was a book, it would probably be the thickest book of all. Every place, event, and person would have their own chapter, that's why our lives would only be one chapter." Then he said...

"Okay, so if we're just one chapter, will we ever get the chance to experience chapter two?.."

Arrrgh...That one made me think too.... I said "probably not. The world is so big that we couldn't possibly 'experience' it all. I don't think we'll ever see any chapter other than ours. How could we possibly experience, what a person on the other end of the world is experiencing?"

Then he suddenly asked, "Have you ever seen the Niagara falls?" I said, "yes, but only a picture. Then with a big smile he replied, "Then you have experienced chapter two!" Now that really surprised me. He asked me more questions like, have I seen pictures of other places or sights, I answered yes to most of them so he told me, "See it's not so impossible to experience the other chapters. You have books, TV and now the internet, you now have access to a lot of pictures and information. You can already jump from one chapter to the other."

hahahaha... all i could say was.. "btaw noh?..translation (Yeah! your definitely right.).. well it's kinda hard to translate that phrase. It sounds and "feels" a bit different in our language.

My brother can be really annoying sometimes, but that night he really said great stuff... He taught me that, even though I'm just seating here in front of my computer, I am already seeing different places, experiencing what others are experiencing and talking to people from different places. The technology of today makes it all possible.

So, to the people of Chapter ten, HI!!... I'm emem from Chapter one. hehehehe 0_o c'yah!!

Ohhhhh.... this post just gave an idea for my next article!!!...... oh yeah!!....

a day gone bad....

This has got to be the worst day of my entire second sem life! (as of now anyway hehehe)

  • I only had two hours of sleep. I had to finish my article and other paperworks.
  • My article didn't "feel" right. It still needed jazzing up, but because of time constraints i guess it'll have to do....(i feel like babe right now..."that'll do pig... that'll do"...)
  • i couldn't find my topic for reporting., (yo! Adam Smith, care to show me your views on monopoly?!....stop hiding already!!..0_o..)
  • Had to read the A.S' first books then make a commentary for each....( i was sleepy and it was so boring.. i just had to close my eyes..)
  • I was half asleep in my history class. I tried to keep my eyes open but, they seemed to have a mind of their own.
  • after histo 2, i had a little "accident"... (confidential. only friends and family are allowed to know bwaahahaha!!!!!)
  • i was scared the entire time of my SOC SCI 2 class....i couldn't find my topic so i wasn't able to prepare my report. I owe my life to my friends right now, who agreed to make their reports a bit longer so i would be saved.. tenchu guys!!!
  • On the way home i found out i didn't bring enough money for my fare.
  • The traffic was terrible!
  • nobody at home answered my phonecalls
when i got home, i still had to cook so i couldn't sleep yet. Right now i am feeling very drowsy.

wondering why i'm still here?....My bro is sososo annoying right now. I'm gonna pay him back as soon as he gets out of the bathroom. bwahahahaha!!!!......

Sunday, December 3, 2006

Oh crap!

oooof!!!... I don't think i'll be able to sleep tonight...

remember the assignments i was talking about back in my other post?.... yep! i haven't been able to finish them... oh boy!.....My historical essay needs to be finished, my article needs to be organized AND i haven't read up on Adam Smith's wealth of nations yet! I can't make my commentaries!.. what's a girl gonna do?!!!

I wasn't able to finish them today because, we had another meeting for the ASEAN summit. We toured the hotels that we would visit, and the routes we were gonna take. It was so tiring! We sat in the bus for hours....

talk about a bad butt day.. hahahaha

Oh man! Look at the time!!! I gotta go start on those papers!!!... buhbye!!!

Betwixt

Betwixt

Right now i am caught betwixt
In a plight i find hard to deem
Right now my dilemma cannot be fixed
for it concerns quite a crazy dream

I try hard to reach out,
I try hard to fly high!
Though it's impossible to doubt
That a mere human can't fly

My heart tells me GO!
My heart wants to follow
My brain's saying NO
My mind says, my dream's hollow

Oh my! oh My!
Now i'm more than bewildered
Should i go try to fly?
Or should i wish, that in my heart, this dream never entered?

Smiles, laughter and a whole lot of SiOMAi!!!

For those who do not know,

Siomai is a dimsum of Chinese origin which is also quite common in the Philippines. One can order different kinds of siomai but the base is always pork.

It looks kinda weird but, you know what?. it tastes way, way WAY... better!!!!.....

Last night me and my buddies went on food trip. Usually we have a variety of food to choose from, but last night we only had eyes for the famous SIOMAI SA TISA!!! (TISA is a place far from our school and houses. Their siomai is exceptionally good! For us anyway hahaha)... It was already around 9 pm when we got there because we had to attend our monthly praisefest which ended at around 8:30. We had to wait a bit longer when we got there coz the tables were all full!!! (it was torture i tell you! Torture!!!) After a few minutes, a few AGONIZING minutes, were finally able to get a table, order and eat, eat, eat!!! hehehe it was soooo goood!!! hehehe...
it's been a while since we had a foodtrip. I was so happy last night because, not only did we eat great food, we were also able to bond. I may sound a bit silly right now but yah know what?....I love it when me and my buddies go on silly adventures like this hehehehe... Sometimes we get so busy these days that we forget to smile and have fun....
We didn't stay long there though, there were a lot of people waiting for us to finish. (so annoying hehehe)...We paid for our food then went on our way.
To get home, we had to walk for around ten minutes (yep, exercise after meals hahaha.. good thing no one got appendicitis...toinkz). The street was dark and there were a lot of people who looked really scary, so we decided to stick close to each other . We joked around, laughed a lot and even sang a lot. If you saw us last night, you would have thought what a rowdy bunch we were! hahahaha....
The other thing that added to the fun was a new friend. He was from a different schoool and spoke a different language than us..(welll... it's not actually that different hehehe) He spoke TAGALOG the national language of us Filipinos. We are filipinos too but we are from a different island, we can speak both tagalog and english but our vernacular langauge is BISAYA . We had to translate some jokes and words to him so he wouldn't feel left out. But still, we really enjoyed the night despite the langauge barrier.
When we finally got to our stop, my other friends said goodbye and rode a jeepney. Me and my other friends waited for the next jeep (for them) and a taxi for me (i always ride on one during the night time). I was a bit nervous coz my friends told me to give our new friend a ride since he was boarding near my place anyway. I was nervous coz like i said, he was tagalog. I have nothing against them, and i was more than okay to give a friend a ride. It's just that....I suck at speaking Tagalog... hahahaha (nosebleed alert!!) It's weird actually, I find it harder to speak our national language than to speak english.
I was so relieved that we said goodbye before i ran out of words hehehehe...

........ I had so much fun that night, that i kept smiling even when arrived home......
It kind of reminded me of the text message i received from one of my friends

Life can be fun even if there are many problems,
Shitty days, boring moments and beastly enemies.
There's one thing that erases all of it....
tons of extraordinary, sweet, hyper, freakin' insane friends!!. 0_o
