When we checked out our subjects for this sem, i was a bit shocked to see another journalism subject. all i could think of was, "hey! i can only handle one journ subject at a time!" i was really worried. I mean what if i fail? What if i won't be able to cope with the two subjects? the what ifs were really piling up and i was beginning to get smothered by them. 0_o
When classes started, i was a bit relieved to hear that publishing would be in the form of our blogs and throught the net. I'm really not a big fan of blogs but somehow, i felt better owning one. We are the bosses of our blogs right? So we can write basically what we want! What could be easier than writing for yourself?..... hohoho.. poor me, knowing so little about something so .. whats the right word...."brilliant"? I never thought that i could learn so many things about something i once considered silly. (writing in virtual "diaries" that anyone could read")
We talked about a lot of things in class but what really amazed me was the power that one can hold even with just a simple blog or post. In our times, the internet has become a tool. A tool that can be used for entertainment, connecting with family and friends, and believe it or not, freedom! The article about the chinese people andtheir blogs really amazed me. like what i worte on my reaction paper " i never thought that the blog played such an important role".
It was also because of this class that i learned how to interact with fellow netizens. I have chatted with a few bloggers and even asked advice from them. I have been a "net addict" for quite sometime now, but there were some things that i only learned in this class. I guess you CAN teach an old dog new tricks.. hehehe...
I admit i am really not that faithful in updating my blog. When i read the blog of "Captain K" from the Times Citizen of the year, i was really ashamed. Here was a soldier, fighting in a war for his life and country who was still able to update his blog and share to everyone his experiences. Not only was he able to do that, he was even recognized because of it. It made me ashamed coz here i am, wasting my blog when someone out there could really use it for more "significant" things. .. that's why now, if i have enought time, i'll update my blog more often.
Well, seems like i'm going on and on here. My post is getting a bit lengthy and since i don't want to bore you guys with my chitchat and nonsense, I have to end here. my final words?
Journ 121 has been a VERY challenging subject for me like all my journalism subjects. This is not because of the deadlines that i have to meet and the 7:30 am classes but, because i get to explore different sides of the internet that i have'nt seen yet. It was hard, but i really learned a lot from it. :)
